New Removable Hacks a Success!

The Armstrong Club has now had the new Canada Curling Stone removable hacks in for one complete month of use. The ice crew is very happy with the new hacks. These hacks allow the ice scraper to get all of the way to the back of the sheet of ice and more importantly it saves the crew a lot of work – twenty minutes per day .  There is virtually no hand scraping required around the hacks and the hacks no longer need to be vacuumed and sponged out after each ice shaving session.  The rubber will wear more evenly as the left and right hacks are often swapped.  When the ice crew floods, the hacks are simply taken out and well Vaselined lengths of copper pipe are inserted in the holes. Once the flood has frozen solid the copper pipe lengths are easily withdrawn by hand and are ready for the regular hacks. Brilliant. No more crouching in front of hacks melting out hackcups and then laboriously carving and melting out the indentations.

As well the curlers are OK with the new hacks too!

Those of you who enter the lounge will have spotted the black and orange Olson Isogrid Broom on display. This broom is part of an Olson promotional campaign to promote this new product and every curling club that orders product from Olson has been given a broom to raffle away. After much discussion with a certain club member we have decided to hold the draw date for the Olson Isogrid broom on Friday the 16th of December.  Enter now and enter often. This extremely nice brush (Retail $194.95) could be yours just in time for Christmas!

Halloween Party a Howling Success!

By all accounts the Annual Halloween Party was another success. Wild and wacky costumes were everywhere and good times were had by all. It is the intention of this website to show pictures of some of the costumes as soon as the appropriate palms have been crossed with silver and the pictures are released for public viewing.
